Lactose - C12H22O11
It is a sugar found in milk. Too much undigested lactose will give you diarrhea. It is important for infants to get this from their mothers. The body needs lactase, an enzyme in the digestive tract, to properly digest lactose. Lactase breaks the lactose down into two simple sugars, which the body can then easily use as energy.
